Congrats to 36 for picking up the Oscar. While I was at the barbershop I heard a lot of different opinions on how people felt about the whole situation. Some felt that the show was not the right venue for them to perform. Others felt that if a black person won an Oscar that it should have been for their acting not rap music.
I listened to all that shit, but the bottomline to me was that one of my all time favorite rap groups won an Oscar for what they do and they got it without selling out. Fuck those over thinking motherfuckas – Just enjoy the moment.

Yo I love hip hop, grew up on it.But that was one of the biggest exploitations of the craft.White america made rap look like they are nothing more than a bunch of ignorant pimps with no respect for our women.These fools played right into it

I am personally not a 36 Mafia fan, but the fact that they won an oscar, you gotta give em props, anotha black man suceeding and we need more of that, congrats to them.
i’m shocked. Good for them. People are saying that the song is a bash against women and our young black men…maybe. BUT IT WAS A SONG CREATED FOR A MOVIE! GET OVER IT! MOVIE ARE ENTERTAINMENT! NOT A INFLUENCE FOR REAL LIFE! People use your own brain. Do what you want to do, not a movie or a song.
Your point is correct, if you’re speaking to adults like you and me. Who is the majority of downloads and imitators……kids. Now go ask them if they know the difference.If you plant a bad seed in a young mental it grows into somthing you dont want to deal with later on.Now I know there’s a lot more shit out there just as bad,but at some point you gotta stand up like a proud black man.The rest of the world feeds off the USA’S BLACK MANS CREATIVITY, stay proud of that alone and protective of our own…..peace.
While all of this over "anal"yzing is going on, A black rap group won an oscar…period. They opened the door regardless of the content of the music and broke the code. Now Black folks got the formula. Can’t you see that? Same thing with movies(Jamie Foxx),Golf, and Tennis (Tiger-Williams sisters)Hockey(Anson Carter). Just realize that there are thousands of Black folks coming up on the low, in the amateur leagues that didn’t go pro "YET". When they turn pro, thats when they get the camera. Its a formula. We still got car racing screen writing and even black cooking shows to take over. We get prestige, money and dominate everywhere they let us in. Once we’re in , we take over just like basketball. So what it took some "country pimp" brothers to open the door, Its on now…I could care less what the record was about, what they looked like, if they had one tooth in their mouths, the door is open and the formula is out. So quit talking and go gets yours. Its waiting on you!! Focus on the positive and not the negative.
Well I’m gon start by sayin I’m From MEMPHIS and it FEELS GGGGGGRRREEEEAAATTT to c them FINALLY do what they do and get an Oscar. Ya’ll can say what ya’ll want but what’s the difference if they got it or Eminem got it? B real Ya’ll know that if it was Lil Jon or even any other rapper wouldn’t know body be hatin on’em. I grew up listenin to Triplesix since they was in high school sellin tapes in da parkin lot. So I’m proud of them and that brought more publicity to Memphis that has been lllloooongggg over due. It’s good to see them get it than ANY Rapper/group that’s out right now. They have never change their style gettin buck/crunk has been our way of life since the late 80s so I’m glad to know our (MEMPHIS) music is now finally being appreciated. Ya’ll stay up.
When half of you have kids and start working in a "white" society you will understand. Denzel got an oscar for saying nigga a million times in Traingin day, and 3-6 got one for stating "Its hard out here for a pimp". Its not over analization….its the truth. That shit aint nothing to be proud of.
